While we live in a high technological and the digital world today, print is still a major player in almost every aspect of everyday life. Each of these two worlds has their many differences and each should be known so they aren’t confused and misused. One of the major differences between digital and print comes when you start considering the types of color spaces that reign supreme in each. In the digital world, you deal with the RGB (red, green, blue) space whereas in the print world only the CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) space exists.

Each color space, RGB andCMYK, has their own strengths and weaknesses that make them perfect in their own aspects, but you need to understand the differences in order to know how to use them correctly. Give a look at the infographic below to understand the two.

Interesting Tidbit:

Why is Black referenced as 'K'? - In the printing press days when plates were being used the black plate was typically call the “key” plate because it carried the important key information relating to the artistic detail.
